Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann – 23

Or the prelude to 40%* if you will. After the climatic battle against the Anti Spirals in the previous episode, the crew return to Earth to make preparations for their final stand against their greatest foe. Viral officially joins the Gurren Brigade and is welcomed with open arms. Despite having emerged victorious with minimal casualties, Rossiu is disheartened and leaves everyone behind to visit his birthplace.

Better times... ;_;

Best explanation ever.
Kinon informs Simon about this and they both set out looking for him, fearing the worse. We move over to Rossiu who meets up with his old village chief, and laments about humanity. They both talk about the holy scriptures that was handed to him back then and Rossiu commented about how he is unable to read them because they don't match any ancient alphabets in his database, and dismisses it as nothing but a mere joke. Uh, you can't read it so it's crap? Lawl.

BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
After that fleeting moment, Rossiu proceeds to do what he came back for in the first place, which is end it all. Unfortunately, Simon arrives in time to sock him with one, which is long overdue to say the least. With Simon talking some sense into Rossiu, the latter becomes likable again, this time with Kinon to go with it.

This show has just got so many quotable lines!

Rossiu's popularity rating just went up by 32%
With that crisis averted, the crew makes final preparations to leave, although Rossiu stays behind to manage things on Earth. After a short briefing and a farewell, we see the Gurren Brigade in space, on the Terra Cathedral, now known as the Hyper Galaxy Dai-Gurren, with a costume change to boot!

As you can see for yourself, the final arc begins next week, and this being Gainax, I wonder if things are going to end well. In any case, remember the 40%? Rumors have it that 40% of the show's total budget went towards animating the last 3 episodes, so we can expect something really out of the ordinary and of high quality. Shin out.
Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann – 21
Though the first half of this episode is essentially a filler, it does highlight the side of now mature Yoko, which makes her much hotter than she ever was before. As if a mirror image of Mizuho of Onegai Sensei fame, Yoko appears to all of us in her teacher getup, which is nothing short of breathtaking.
Onegai, Yamako Sensei!
Bear in mind, this takes place only about a year before the current events, so this time of tranquility is short lived, as is this post, which is why I'll post caps instead of describing what happens during the first half. Lawl.

Making a sudden transition from her milf-like teacher appearance back to her old hot blooded self after a sudden attack by 2 bandits, Yoko rushes back to Kamina City to free Simon. She arrives just in time to intercept Nia, much to Simon's relief. Simon then forms an unlikely pact with Viral who agrees to help the latter save Earth from being destroyed, with the old Gurren brigade in tow.

Badass Yoko is badass.
Just as the Arc Gurren is under siege from heavy Anti Spiral fire, our heroes manages to arrives just in time(that's that phrase again) to save the day, paving way to most inspiring scene since Simon's Rebirth® back in episode 15, which concludes this week's episode. Shin out.

Oh so manly!
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann – 17
If Gurren Lagann was a girl, I want to marry her. That's how much I love this awesome series. Fast forward into the future seven years, or year 7 AK(After Kamina) if you will, after the fall of Lord Genome, we see the humans finally living in peace on the surface in the capital city of Kamina. There is so much to cover in this episode alone that I have no clue where to begin, but I'll cover whatever I can.

Princess Nia, as beautiful as ever 7 years on. Wonder if her cooking has improved since...

Rossiu isn't convinced....
Well for one, the technology has drastically advanced since then that people live in suburbs and apartments similiar to today's world, with gadgets like the television, radio and even cellphones.

To think these people were either nomads or living underground just 7 years ago...
Of course, this peace doesn't last and we get a first glimpse of trouble, when the now immortal Viral dukes it out with Grapals (a new type of Ganmens made by the humans) and is defeated by Darry and Gimmy, the two kids who left their village along with Rossiu who are now formidable warriors. Interestingly enough, Viral is fighting to protect the very humans he once despised, who are being evicted from their homes beneath the surface, under the orders of Rossiu. Viral tells Simon he is no different from Lord Genome, shocking the latter. Simon then questions Rossiu's actions, creating a verbal conflict between the two.

Alignment: Lawful Evil
The shit hits the fan the moment the human population hits the 1,000,000 mark as forewarned by Lord Genome, when an unknown mecha originating from the moon descends upon the city and wreaks havoc, killing thousands. The Grapals launch, to engage the new enemy without much effect. Simon then arrives to take it out, but unfortunately the impending explosion causes collateral damage that destroys everything within a large radius. Rossiu, who was against Simon's decision to engage the enemy then places the commander in chief under martial arrest. As if that wasn't bad enough, the arrival of the new nemesis also triggers some sort of reaction within Nia who is now taken over and is now the messenger of the Han-Rasen, an anti spiral race(whatever that means) which probably means more people are going to die. Oh shit. Shin out.

The Destroyer Cometh.
