5 things that absolutely rocked about this episode of Gundam 00. (pardon the shitty screencaps)

1. New OP that was so awesome i came brix. More naked Louise is always welcome.

Click here to view the embedded video.

2. Ian's awakening.

If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled.

For you are in Elysium, and you're already dead!!!

3. The *not so* shocking revelation. Ribbons=Pilot of O Gundam.

Setsuna, I AM YOUR FATHER.

4.Seraphim Gundam.

It was kind of expected for the backpack to turn into another Gundam but damn, it was still an awesome scene.

5. Mister Bushido/ Graham gets an Overflag lookalike. The prayers of many Flag fanboys were answered in the latest badass incarnation of the venerated Mobile Suit. Now with 60% more Japanese Samurai influences!!

MAKE IT A FLAG!!

P.S. Marina's singing completely ruined the mood of the episode.

P.P.S. Getting some Gundam SEED vibes from the OP.

P.P.P.S. Needs more Louise and less Marina. Please take note of this, Sunrise.

P.P.P.P.S. Seriously, the OP is magnificent. One cant hope to argue against evidence like this.

Oh boy, that took longer than expected. I tell you, you better be grinding and leveling your characters before you start the final mission. They seriously ramped up the difficulty in this one, although the it's okay to lose to the final boss. Anyone tried beating him yet? I heard you get a different ending...

So like, screw this. I lost my level 55 Lockon in the previous mission to Ali, and having overwritten my save file, there's no way to retrace my steps. There goes my long range attacking unit. It did make the game much more difficult than it already is, but I guess I'll manage.

For this mission, all my units are scattered all over the map, and there's no way to regoup them. Thankfully I just had to survive for 30 turns for this one, but with my Tieria out of SP, he's pretty much deadweight, which means no artillery as well orz In any case, having the highest SPD stat among everyone else in the team, my Setsuna had the first move, but god damn, I miscalculated my movement options from the previous mission and placed him right next the tile where Alejandro is.

See what I mean by them ramping up the difficulty? Having purchased the 「GN Armor」 for about Cr 30,000, Alejandro destroys right off the bat with his counterattack skill, leaving me only with the main Exia unit alone. Oh did I mention the 「GN Armor」 was piloted by Lasse? There isn't a requirement to keep him alive, so meh. Basically this turn was wasted with my trying to futilly damage Alejandro's Alvatore with ranged attacks.

It was Allelujah's turn next, and with Kyrios heavily damaged, I had to at least stall for time until my Trans-Am energy gauge refills. Luckily, I had another trump card up my sleeves, which involves merging the personalities of my Allelujah and Hallelujah into one single entity. It does come with a stat bonus, but I'll be sacrificing my VIT stat as a tradeoff. Either way, I used up the turn by engaging both Soma and Sergei, making full use of my Double Movement perk gained from the merge. Turn done, and I return to controlling Setsuna.

I manage to remember reading on that walkthrough about using melee attacks against Alvatore. Since I had sufficient SP and ranged attacks weren't working anyway, I decided to use one of Exia's strongest special moves.

Well, that sorta did the trick, but my turn ended right after that, so I don't get to see the extent of how the damage I dealt.

Woo-hoo! It's Allelujah's turn again, and this time my Trans-Am is fully charged.

Thinking I could finish off the HRL aces with a buffed up Kyrios, I charged right at them, making one fatal miscalculation. Unless I were to split the pair up, they both gain a bonus to their ATK, AGI and SPD stats, with counter attack move to boot. So screwed. On the plus side, I managed to stall their turns until time was up, since none of the two units can move without the other.

I swear, Bandai doesn't want you to win their game. At least not without you tearing all your hair out. From out of nowhere, they pull off some lame deus ex machina by unveiling the Alvatore's 「Shin Konjiki Yoroi」* Mode orz *True Golden Armor.

But whatever, good thing I have enough SP to pull of one more Special, so taking this idiot out shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Haha, owned, bitch. Who's your GUNDAM now? Oh wait, a hidden transmission by Ribbons to rub it in.

Whew, that was tough. Time to retre....WHAT THE FUCK?!

SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! I hate you Namco Bandai! Oh wait, I already cleared the mission. This turns out to be a pre-programmed battle scene, so I just had to sit back and watch everything till the end credits.

The dust settles, and it seems Setsuna destroyed Graham's Flag? Hard to tell nowadays, since they can easily bring dead people back to life. Either way, Setsuna starts narrating some bullshit so I guess I cleared this mission. I couldn't tell if I had won the game, since in the cutscene, they showed Setsuna floating away in deep space and stuff...

Well, that sure was a wild ride. Oh yes, if you have cleared the game 100%, there is a hidden cutscene after the credits are over.

That's right folks, you unlock the elusive GN-00 unit which can be imported to the expansion pack as a playable unit, this October. It's these little rewards that make suffering through such an insanely tough game that makes it all worth the while. Either way, I've enjoyed playing this very much and is looking forward to the next installment with much anticipation. For now, there is the Code Geass R2 real time strategy game out next week, so be sure to try that out.

Going out with a bang.

Alejandro is in disbelief over Exia's sudden surge in combat prowess through the activation of the Trans-Am, as Libbons inform him that it wasn't something in Veda's database and suggests that it might have been built into the GN Drives. The latter merely glares at Schenberg's lifeless body in disgust, cursing his foresight.

The situation does not bode well for the Meisters, as Setsuna informs Sumeragi about how the UN forces have departed Earth for space and that one of the Thrones have been captured by Ali Al Sarshes.

It doesn't take long for the UN strike team to arrive at the Meister's doorsteps, and Sumeragi makes the difficult the decision of having Dynames sit this one out, as Lockon still needs to recuperate, with only Virtue and Kyrios sortieing. Ali, with his newly acquired toy also participates in the battle.

Despite the overwhelming odds, Hallelujah and Tieria manage to hold their own, taking out several GN-Xs. This all changed when Ali intervened and exploited Virtue's inherent weakness of not being able to fend itself against a multitude of barrage attacks, which Throne Zwei greatly excels. Even Hallelujah finds himself in a bind, when supersoldier Soma enters the fray, causing that head splitting migraine that nearly puts him out of commission, although Allelujah manifests himself to help his partner out. Left with no choice both Virtue and Kyrios' Trans-Am systems are activated, giving their respective pilots the momentary upper hand. As their trump card has a limited operating lifespan, the Meisters soon faces the possibility of obliteration, as the UN forces mount a counterattack.

They call it the GN Armor, I call it the badass motherfucker.

Akin to the cavalry in spaghetti westerns, Dynames arrive to open a can of whoop-ass on the enemy. Caught off guard, most of the GN-Xs are destroyed, with Daryl managing to flee for his life, tail in between legs. Not content with his current scoresheet, Lockon decides to take on the UN's respawning position and wipe out the 3 transport ships. However, he manages to only take 2 out before Ali once again pop out of nowhere to mess things up.

Having reached the end level boss so to speak, Lockon dukes it out with Ali, blaming the latter for his family's death. Being the terrorist that he is, Ali defends his actions as justified, as he likens Lockon as being the same. During the battle, Daryl in a last ditch attempt to avenge his friend, goes on a suicide attack against Dynames, severely damaging it. Ali uses this to his advantage and incapacitates Dynames, leaving only the torso.

Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast.

Retreating behind some asteroids, Lockon realizes that this was pretty much it for him, as he orders Haro to return to the ship along with what's left of the Dynames. He bids his partner farewell, which only responds by calling out Lockon's name over and over. Lockon's intended coup de grace was to fire the still functioning GN Armor's cannons with his targeting system to take Throne Zwei out.

Making his one shot count, Lockon succeeds in destroying Zwei, although Ali himself manages to return fire, which causes the GN Armor's cannon to explode, throwing Lockon off into the dark depths of space. With the planet Earth in full view, Lockon comments on whether if people are content with such a world, and declares that he hates it, pointing his finger at it in a shape of gun. Setsuna who had left the ship to rescue Lockon, reaches too late, as the impending explosion from the cannon engulfs the latter, ending his life. Setsuna lets out a scream of despair, with the crew learning of Lockon's fate when Haro only repeatedly calls out his name...

Well, that sucks. You'd think that Lockon would probably live after they spared his life in the previous episodes. It was a pretty sad demise, and the fact Horo could only helplessly cry out to his master made that scene somewhat emotional. Regardless, only 2 episodes to go before the end of this season, and things only get messier judging from the preview as the Meisters bicker among one another, with Tieria looking as though he's blaming Setsuna for Lockon's death. No happy wedding then. The following question remains:

WHO'S GOING TO CUT SETSUNA'S HAIR NOW?!!!!

Yet another suprise by Sunrise!

After an intense battle with the UN and hacked Veda System which brought all the Celestial Beings Gundams down for a short while, Lockon has manage to survive the battle with minor injuries. However, they did manage to injure his good eye which would affect his accuracy in battle. However, Lockon refuses to enter capsule treatment whereby he would only be allowed out when he fully recovers. Lockon insist to carry on without treatment and reminds them of how well he can do with just Haro assisting him although his concern really lies with how Tiera is keeping up.

So....so.....so..... GAR!Lockon quickly approaches Tiera comforting him and cheering him on while Felt who was intending on having a word with Lockon overheard their conversation.(Hopes for more LockonxFelt) Felt concluded that Virtue's failure to switch systems during the last battle was due to Tiera's direct link with Veda being an obstacle. (What is Tiera anyway -.-? Setsuna was an extremist, Lockon a victim of terrorism and Allelujah a customized soldier... what more to come?)

Down on Earth, The Trinity Thrones seem to be having a tough time with UN hunting them down. Due to their base being destroyed in previous episodes, They are unable to regenerate their GN-Particles.(Unlike the Celestial Beings, theirs are rather... short lived!). With the help of Wang Liu-min, they barely made it to escape an attack by the UN yet again (impressive battle tactics shown by the UN). Unfortunately, Drei(Nena's Throne) lost a part and would be less of use for now.

Impressive!

Back in space, Celestial Beings with only 3 Gundams left (Dynames is damaged badly and would have to be repaired back at dock) discuss of the recent attacks launched on the Trinity Thrones and to commence an intervention. Meanwhile, the Trinity Thrones barely escaping the lion's den were visited by the worse possible person- Ali Al Sarshes who initially came in "Peace" but shot Michael dead the moment he landed foot on ground. Being a war monger as he is, he gave Johann the chance of fighting him in his Throne. But to Johann's surprise Ali attacked using Zwei, overwriting the system using Veda he was able to active Zwei. Soon enough, Johann was overwhelmed by Ali Al Sarches fighting abilities(has got to be the most skillful pilot/fighter in 00) leaving Nena the sole survive of the Trinity Throne in shock. Fortunate for her, Exia came to the rescue. Quickly heating up the battle when Setsuna finds himself fighting Ali Al Sarshes.

Coolest line I've seen in this series!

Was not too happy about this, mainly because i sort of found the Trinity Throne to be "cool" and was also hoping they'd join up with the Celestial Beings to own the world? But i guess this is how it goes =.= (Johann's Throne was my favorite among them too T.T)

At Veda's Database, Alenjandro Corner and his evil minion- Libbons Almark(has the same ability as Tiera however of a high level I'm guessing?) has managed to take control of the Veda Database System and uncover Aeolia Schenberg who is still in cold sleep. Alenjandro then makes the finishing touch to complete his wonderful master plan to find out... SELF PWNT! Apparently Aeolia had already predicted of a chance of betrayal and planned ahead thus causing Alejandro's action to only strengthen the Celestial Beings GN-Drives providing full power. Setsuna who was pretty much loosing the battle against Ali got lucky? What incredible timing -.-?

And, WHOA! Mode-Release!

Being an Exia/Setsuna fan of this series, this has been the best episode at the moment(hopes for MOAR)! With the new Trans-Am System(for now we've seen Exia's movement boost, but who knows what the other Gundams have?), the Celestial Beings are once again back on track and ahead of the rest of the world. Something obvious shown here is that of Exia's attack on Zwei(Ali) resembles Cloud's(FFVII) Omni slash? LAWL! Hopefully with the episodes remaining we'll get to see more and MOAR action/battles/imba'ness! As for me, I'm really into this series mainly because I didn't get to watch the previous Gundam Series ( Seed/Destiny etc)... My hopes for -00 are high and hopefully the next season which i've been told would probably start earliest in the Autumn release shall not disappoint me!

-Evern out.

SHOCK AND AWE!

After a near brush with death, Tieria finally garners enough courage to confess to Setsuna. The latter accepts, and they share a passionate kiss in full view of everyone, including the Trinity siblings, who cheer them on. Later that night, Setsuna sneaks into Tieria's room and proceed to make love to his newfound life partner.

As if that was going to happen. Disappointments aside, this episode is a great follow up to the previous introduction one, as more light is shed on the Trinity siblings, although their true agenda remains unknown. It looks like they do not take direct orders from Veda, and their mobile suits are actually of an older generation. And out of nowhere, Nena steals a kiss from Setsuna, although being the faggot that he is, he pushes her away. Having said that, that scene sent shivers down my spine, not due to Setsuna's blatant display of homosexuality, but because it reminded me of the time when Flay kissed Kira. Don't die, Nena-chan ;-;

Other things worth taking note was the fact the orange Haro(Lockon's) seem to recognize the purple unit owned by Nena, to which it refers as brother. Speaking of the moe one, while she is usually playful and acts in a childlike manner at times, she does have a darker side(yandere?!) to her, when she confronted Setsuna after he ignored her. Nena gets what Nena wants eh? Michael on the hand, seems to spoil for fights at the slightest provocation, while Johann is still the stoic yet manly ganguro that I had hoped him to be...

After introducing themselves to the current batch of Gundam Meisters, the Trinity siblings leave the ship, without revealing much about themselves. This proves to be worrisome, as they are able to act independently, and sure enough, it doesn't take long for them to stir something up. Elsewhere, Professor Eifman who is currently at the Union MSWAD base in America stumbles upon information that would reveal Schenberg's true agenda, which does not involve the eradication of war. Just before he could proceed any further, he receives a computer message that goes "You have witnessed too much…" <strike>Thinking he got busted by the FBI for having too much child pornography, Eifman panic</strike>s. Putting the death into Blue Screen Of Death, the Trinity Thrones lay siege on the base, with Eifman as their prime target.

More of the Throne's abilities are revealed, with Drei being able to transfer large amounts of GN particles directly into Ein's energy chambers, allowing it to fire a massive beam of concentrated red destruction. Michael also gets to show off what his Fangs(those DRAGOON-like weapons) can do. Apart from firing lasers, it also has a secondary melee mode, where it plunges itself into the target, destroying it from within. Wicked.

I really like where the show is heading at this point, with the Trinity's being most likely the antagonists, so it's only a matter of time before shit starts hitting the fan. That scene prior to Eifman's demise was really well done, as it had that OHSHI- feeling, like he was being monitored the whole time by unknown forces or something. It was already obvious right from the beginning that Schenberg had no intention of fighting for the reason he claimed, but Eifman's death really does cement that fact. And no, Marina did not see Nena kissing Setsuna. Shin out.

Evil Haro?!!

Oh man, I've not been so excited over an episode of Gundam 00 in a while now. Despite being a cleverly disguised recap episode, it did manage to impress, with the introduction of the new Gundams and its pilots. Just as the Gundam Meisters were being subdued and captured last week, a team of unknown suits came to their rescue, and boy, did they make an entrance.

Instead of going into the usual summary bits, I'm going to just cut to the chase by saying that all three superpowers were taken by surprise and had their asses kicked. Without further ado, here are the Gundam Thrones and the Trinity siblings:

Johann Trinity
26-years-old. Pilot of the pseudo-GN Drive-equipped Gundam Throne Eins and leader of Team Trinity. Undertaking the mission to eradicate the world's strife, he begins armed interventions with his younger siblings Michael and Nena. A calm person who faithfully handles his given mission while he commands his problematic brother & sister. A good marksman, he handles the firing of the GN Mega Launcher equipped on the Throne Eins.

Michael Trinity
19-years-old. Member of Team Trinity and pilot of the pseudo-GN Drive-equipped Gundam Throne Zwei. Shortsighted, he immediately bares his fangs at people who oppose him. Similar to his personality, he favors brutal tactics for mobile suit combat and specializes in attacks with the Zwei's custom wireless all-range weapon, the GN Fangs. Said to dote on his younger sister, Nena, he has a sister complex on one hand while also abiding by and complaining about orders from the eldest brother, Johann.

Nena Trinity
17-years-old. Member of Team Trinity and pilot of the pseudo-GN Drive-equipped Gundam Throne Drei. Simple in personality, she displays self-centeredness to an extent. She doesn't change her style in battle, laughing even while opposing the taking of lives. Her Throne Drei stores a large quantity of highly concentrated, condensed GN particles and employs a GN field that transfers particles to other units and interferes extensively with communications. She's the strong support within Team Trinity. Habitually smiles and makes a V-sign with her fingers.

GNW-001 Gundam Throne Eins

Head height: 18.6 m

Base weight: 67.1 t

Armament: GN Launcher, GN beam rifle, GN beam saber, GN shield

Pilot: Johann Trinity

A Gundam from Celestial Being's second team. Throne Unit #1. The Eins, Zwei, and Drei are customizations of identical units, with the Eins specializing in high-powered, long-range artillery like the Dynames and Virtue. Its proof that it is a Gundam, the GN Drive, is a T (Tau) type which emits red GN particles that differ from other Gundams thus far. The same kind of GN Drive is equipped on the mothership used by the three Thrones with a powerful beam cannon directly connected to it.

GNW-002 Gundam Throne Zwei

Base weight: 67.1 t

Armament: GN Fang, GN handgun, GN buster sword, GN beam saber

Pilot: Michael Trinity

A Gundam from Celestial Being's second team. Throne Unit #2. Its equipped GN Drive[T] emits red particles. Second son Michael Trinity is a Gundam Meister. Its large buster sword is double-edged with a beam saber and real blade and stores GN particles in the center. In addition to being used as remotely-controlled beam rifles, the GN Fangs can also attack enemies by generating beam sabers.

GNW-003 Gundam Throne Drei

Head height: 19.4 m

Base weight: 67.7 t

Armament: GN stealth field, GN handgun, GN beam saber, GN shield pod, GN shield

Pilot: Nena Trinity

A Gundam from Celestial Being's second team. Throne Unit #3. The youngest sister of the three Trinity siblings, Nena Trinity is a Gundam Meister. Made for combat support, its GN stealth field, which deploys GN particles over a wide range, is a powerful ability possessed only by this unit. Its GN shield pod can internally store various missles, back-up beam sabers and other such equipment that meets tactical needs. [/copypasta]

HOLY.SHIT. Everything about the new Gundam Thrones and the pilots is so full of win. Rie Kugiyama in my Gundam? Crazy ass sis-con Michael(pronounced Mikhail) with a H4xX0r mobile suit that uses DRAGOONs, with a Buster Sword to boot? Gar Ganguro Johann and his Gundam that has the ability to fire its rifle much further than Dynames and packs the firepower exceeding that of Virtue? Bricks were totally shat*. You really have to see them in action to comprehend the sheer awesomeness that words alone cannot impart. In any case, other interesting revelations were Alejandro being part of some secret organization that oversees the Celestial Being's actions, which had no idea the Thrones were being fielded. With no clear villains at this point, I'm guessing this wisemen committee and Alejandro will play the role of the antagonists, since with the inclusion of the Thrones and original Meisters, they have no real opposition. So totally looking forward to how all this will unfold. Shin out.

* Mindfuck

Nothing much occurs in this episode, except from the fact Hallelujah emerges from time to time to speak to Allelujah, akin to how Jessica materializes in the "flesh" to Nikki from Heroes. Also, Tieria is a whiny bitch.

Among other events that are unrelated to the Celestial Beings, Louise tries hard to make Saji leave a good impression on her mother, while the Kinue(Saji's reporter sis) confronts Schenberg's known descendant, who apparently doesn't have much of a clue on his great grandfather either. Meanwhile, Marina discusses with UN envoy Alejandro over its aid plans for Azadistan.

Back to main plot, Allelujah manages to convince Sumeragi, who is consuming alcohol as her way to calm down, to authorize a mission for him to lay siege on the facility in which he was created. Sumeragi asks if it was alright for him to slay his own kind, but the adamant Allelujah is undeterred and sorties with Tieria to a secret research facility in one of the HRL's space colonies.

Infiltrating the space colony with relative ease, Allelujah arrives just outside the facility only to find himself being overwhelmed by the telepathic cries of all the subjects and is unable to pull the trigger to fire Kyrios' weapons. As though right on cue, Hallelujah urges him to do so, by taunting him on being a hypocrite and such. It works, and Allelujah lets loose barrage of missles, reducing the facility into smoldering rubble.

News of the attack reaches worldwide, and the HRL's experiments on human subjects were revealed to the public, prompting Sergei to arrest the head scientist for tarnishing the HRL's reputation and handing a public victory to the Celestial Beings. Back on the Ptolemaios, Allelujah finds Sumeragi drinking once again, but this time asks for a shot too. She first declines him, but then caves in after he informs her that he had just turned 20 a few minutes ago.

Decent episode that delves deeper into Allelujah's past as well as his other persona, who conveniently shows up when the former is struggling with decisions that involve seemingly unethical slaughter. Next time on Gundam 00, we will get to see Setsuna dealing with his own troubles as well, as he heads back to Azadistan to resolve certain issues, probably setting up for another encounter with Marina as well. Shin out.

After being tactically overwhelmed in the previous episode, the Not-So-Celestial-After-All-Beings must now fend off against their oppressors, with Allelujah and Tieria having to face greater odds as they are isolated from the main group. For once, we get to see that despite having a godly Gundam, the Meisters are still humans and are prone to mistakes and succumb to emotional trauma.

Among other revelations featured in this episode, we discover that Allelujah is some sort of Newtyp'ish genetically enhanced soldier similar to Soma. Also he has a split personality, where the other half is known as Hallelujah, a much more violent and volatile persona(aren't they always?) After having experienced the same splitting headache(NEWTYPE FLASH!) whenever Soma is within the vicinity, Allelujah loses consciousness and is captured by the HRL.

After dispatching his share of the foes, Tieria arrives at the location where Allelujah was captured, and decides to terminate him along with the transport vessel the latter was being held. Fortunately, Soma interrupts and goes head on against Tieria. Virtue's inherent weakness of having to pause between each shot is exploited by the enemy and Tieria finds himself in a literal bind. However, he unleashes his trump card, and GN-004 Nadleeh is revealed, whereby Virtue transform into its secondary mode by shedding its external armor, revealing a sleek Gundam with red hair-like cords protruding from the head.

Tiera makes waste of his enemies, prompting Sergei and Toma to make their retreat. They are intercepted by Hallelujah who taunts Soma into attacking him, although it proves futile, as he is able to anticipate her every moves. Sacrificing himself for Sergei and Toma to escape, the first lieutenant lunges at Kyrios attaching himself to it. What he didn't expect was Hallelujah to slowly torture him to death, instead of finishing him off right away. This is when Allelujah pleads with his other self, as an disemboweled voice, although the former decides not to listen.

Despite having made the enemy withdrawn, it was a failure on the Celestial Beings behalf, as they made too many blunders which lead to this predicament, while making several narrow escapes, which could have lead to the capture of a Gundam unit or worse. Pretty intriguing episode, as I've mentioned before, sheds light on the fact having the best equipment around does not necessarily guarantee a win, and the development of both Allelujah and Tieria. Next week's episode also seem to dedicate itself entirely to Allelujah, as we are given glimpses of his past and how he came to be who is today. Shin out.

Still at the introductory phase of the series, we are given some background information on the three key human factions, which include the Union, Human Reform League and the AEU respectively. After the announcement made by the Celestial Beings on their stance, the entire world is in an uproar due to the nature of their motives, which seemed too good to be true. Unperturbed by what others may think of their holy crusade to purge the planet of wars, the Celestial Beings sortie their Gundam Meisters to Ceylon(Sri Lanka) to intervene and put a halt to the conflict between the HRL and the Tamil rebels. Completing their mission with the utmost ease, the Meisters return to base, only to have Setsuna encounter a Union pilot by the name of Graham Acre who claims he has been captivated by Exia's existence, and seems to want to engage in combat.

A pretty decent episode, especially how they relate the show to current political events at present, namely the Sri Lankan conflict and the scene where the Union President talks about how they go to war to protect their country and profits which is somehow similar to some US foreign policy. Despite all that political stuff, they still manage to keep the show interesting, by slotting in some Gundam action in between, and as it was in the previous episode, these new breed of mobile suits are still without equal. It would be interesting to see if Graham can beat Setsuna, despite knowing what these Gundams are capable of. Serious matters aside, I wish they'd show more of that twintail girl I mentioned last week, Wan Ryūmin, as she is the only one I can rely on at this point to keep the yaoi-ness in check. Lawl. Shin out.

After a long hiatus, Sunrise's flagship series is now here. And for the very first time in a long while, the first episode does not involve stolen Gundams. It does however invoke memories of past Gundam titles I've seen, namely Wings and SEED. The story this time around is set 300 years in the future when the world is divided into 3 core factions, the Union of Solar Energy and Free Nations (that's USA for you), the Human Reform League (made up of China, Russia and India) and the Advanced European Union (self-explanatory) are waving wars with one another over fossil fuel which at the point of depletion.

Enter the Celestial Beings, a private military organization bent on eradicting warfare from the world, through whatever means necessary. No matter the reason, they will act against any country or organization that support war. To aid them in their mission, special mobile suits known as Gundams have been deployed and through a series of well planned attacks and the intervention of a terrorist attack on a satellite orbit station, the Celestial Beings have made it clear that they will stop at nothing in achieving their objectives.

Oh wow, stopping wars by waging a war? They had better explain this blatant contradiction in the Celestial Being's purpose, or this is going to end up like SEED all over again. On the plus side, they brought this issue up at the very beginning, so perhaps there's more to it than what it appears at first. Not bad for a pilot episode, as we got a glimpse of what the Gundams can do, although it does seem overpowered as usual. With more factions this time around, it will be interesting to see how the conflict evolves, as at this point there is no clear cut on who the good guys are, despite the Celestial Beings claiming to be so.

As for the Gundams themselves, I wasn't too attracted to the designs, as I did with the ones in SEED and SEED Destiny. I guess it's because it's not as "loud" and the designers this time decided to go for a more subtle look, making it look somewhat ordinary in my opinion. Speaking of designs, the characters in this show weren't as bad as I first imagined it to be, although Hallelujah still looks like a faggot to me. The rest of the cast are fine, despite the males looking as good in terms of beauty with the females. Thankfully, I can still look forward to the girls in this show, as I've taken a liking for the twin-tailed chinese girl in purple cheongsam whose name I didn't catch, and as such, the excessive amount of bishies can somewhat be forgiven. Also, the opening song by L'arc-en-Ciel was pretty neat and matched the animation sequence nicely. Guess they got tired of TM Revolution already, hehe. In any case, I'll be following this show and expect Sunrise not to mess up this time around. Shin out.
