The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi – Movie Review

Posted by Kinny Riddle

As this story takes place between December 18th to December 20th, I find it fitting to compose this during this duration, after procrastinating for some time since watching it in a cinema a few weeks ago.

If you're one of those lazy tl;dr types and want to avoid the wall of text below, this movie can be summed up in one sentence below:

Completely redeems the franchise and undoes all the damage inflicted by the Endless Eight fiasco. Two and a half hours (of Yuki goodness) well spent.

Very belated post concerning Saimoe 2008

Posted by Kinny Riddle

I'm sure most of you are all aware that Saimoe 2008 is over weeks ago, though I'd just like to share something related to it to you guys.

Early last month I went on a trip to Tokyo, had a lot of fun there, maybe I'll try and post something up if I ever feel like it, but that's not the focus of this post.

Naturally (for most readers here anyway) I went to Akihabara for the usual "pilgrimage" and stuff. And coming across a shop that sells only PCs and laptops (remember that Akiba is actually famous for selling electric stuffs first before it became famous as an otaku ghetto), I noticed this stuck on the entrance:

'Nuff said. (Regardless of what you think of the outcome or of Kagamin. )

I myself did not participate in any voting whatsoever, since I was too busy and couldn't be bothered to handle all the partisanships without risking getting my blood pressure boiling, let's just say.

The final itself was held just before I left for Tokyo, and it was only by chance that I popped by and learned that she won, and within days (when I saw this), this was posted. It was just too amusing so I took a photo of it.

As promised, I now present to you guys "juicy" Spinzaku x Lulu cosplay pics for all of you to savour. No point in me writing much, is there? So here goes the photos. (Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for the photos being obviously not chronological in order to fit the yaoi fangirl-friendly narration. )

HK CityU AkiFest 2008 Cosplays – Shana

Well, this doujin market took place back in early October, but I was too lazy to bother writing a post.

In terms of scale, it was much smaller than the one I went to earlier, so there wasn't actually much interesting doujin which I haven't already seen in the other one. Besides, I came mainly to take photos of the cosplayers. (Not to mention I tried to find a website for this event, but it's already taken down. )

ComicWorld Hong Kong 2008

Posted by Kinny Riddle

Hi guys, this is Kinny Riddle, and today I'll be your guest writer today after being invited to write by Shin. First off, much apologies to Shin for the delay, for this event occurred in late August.

ComicWorld Hong Kong (or CWHK) is a doujinshi-selling event held every 6 months in HK. Once in February and once in August. It's been around since 1998, so this is it's 10th anniversary. While still small in scale compared to THE Comiket in Japan or even the well-organized Comicworld in Taiwan, the numbers are still formidable. Though this is my first time ever visiting one, as I know someone who runs a circle there, and so went to have a look.

This video was taken in CWHK last August, this was taken some time during the afternoon. The ridiculously long queue (and in the sweltering humid August heat as well) had more to do with the poor organizational skills of the organizers than the lack of space inside the hall.
