What ‘Bout My Meido Shin-chan @ Taylor’s Anime Fest 08Posted by: Shin in Miscellaneous, tags: Bricks Shat, Events, Lulz, OtakuMarred by disinterested participants and crowd coupled with generally poor execution, the annual Taylor’s Anime Fest was a pretty ho-hum affair that paled in comparison with last year’s. Still, it had its moments that made the entire event somewhat memorable, which also saw me taking on a dare that resulted in epic funnies and facepalms.
If there’s one thing I like about Malaysia is its affinity to troll. Local anime fans might remember an uproar years ago about how this tabloid paper had likened anime to hentai, which, needless to say, raged the community to no end. Of course much like everything else here, it was eventually swept under the carpet and soon forgotten. Because you can’t keep a good troll at bay, here’s yet another facepalm inducing otaku article from CanDo Land.

Atarashii Prelude x365: A Year Of LOLWUTs, You Lost Mes And Plain BSPosted by: Shin in Miscellaneous, tags: Site
Before I even realized it, a year has passed since this site was founded by my senior and co-founder, gaiden, which also marks the anniversary of my very first foray into blogging of any kind. Since I’ve been meaning to do this but never found the opportunity nor necessity for it before this, here’s a statistical overview of Atarashii Prelude for the past 365 days.
We’re all aware of anime archetypes; characters that have a set of generic personality traits that you see prevalent in every anime. While it’s impossible to list them all in one seating, why not instead look around you to see if you can apply the very same concept in real life; on anime fans, in this case, female ones.

I’m In Ur Republic, Invadin’ Ur ConsPosted by: Shin in Miscellaneous, tags: Events, Lulz, Omake, OtakuNote to self: read up on the event before making assumptions and having false expectations. I cannot say I was disappointed because it wasn’t even supposed to be what I had initially thought; a mini version of Wonderfes. Instead, I was greeted with stuff for a totally different sect of nerds, which is why I felt so out of place. Luckily, wolfx and his buddies were there so, I hung out with them while I watched them enthusiastically drone on and on about brands I’ve never even heard of prior to the event.

Anime You Won’t Find Anywhere Else. Ever. I Think.Posted by: Shin in Miscellaneous, tags: Lulz, Omake
While I’ve always fancied myself as someone who’s well versed with anime releases, a trip to my local bookstore(of all places) proved how wrong I was. Lying there in the pile of anime DVDs were titles that looked familiar but were either sequels and spinoffs that I’ve never even heard of nor were they listed in places like ANN. Below are some of the titles that were on sale and short sypnosises on what they might have been about. |
