Of Death Note And Other Live Action Adaptations
Posted by: Shin in Death Note, tags: Lulz, Movies, Rants
Old news, but I read with great interest about how they finally brought the Death Note live action movie to US shores a few days ago. Even if the first movie’s extremely old, I’m guessing that there are still some people who might be interested in catching it in theatres, if they haven’t already done so through alternative sources. The problem however, is that the entire movie will be dubbed in English.
So, instead of ruining it with English voiceovers, why not have Hollywood cash in and make a full fledged Americanized version instead? Since these adaptations are known to be quite well received, so who knows, it could work, especially since they have the best person to play the role of Light, as well as sh00pped images of the possible cast which I saved ages ago.
Ladies and gentlemen, Zac Efron!

Yeah, he starred in that snorefest that is High School Musical, but I’ll be damned if you could find a better person to play Raito Yagami. This guy is perfect!

Enough of Light, how about the rest of the cast? The only one I really liked was the Death God himself

William Dafoe as Ryuk

Joseph Gordon Levitt as L

Hilary Duff as Misa Misa

Daniel Radcliffe as Near

Madonna as Mello
Don’t know about you, but this movie looks like it could be awesome based on the cast alone, heh. That being said, there are just some titles that you should think twice about touching, and the prime example of this would of course be the upcoming Dragonball movie.

To
or to
?
Of course, these things tend to be a hit or miss affair, but in Dragonball’s case, it looks set to be wide off the mark by a long shot. As for Death Note, I’d pay just to see Zac casted as Light, and if they would just use the exact same storyline, I see no reason for it to fail. Maybe.

I heard about Zac Efron looking like Light but not the others. I can definitely see Hillary Duff as Misa. *L* Great pictures…how long did it take you to make them?

Eww, Zac Efron. The first High School Musical was okay, but then they just kept making more and I kept getting pissed lols. I mean, seriously, the same bad character twice? no go. Like Caitlin, Hilary Duff will suit Misa the most

@Caraniel
I’m glad you thought so too. Too bad about DBZ though.
@Caitlin
Only put them Light x Zac images together, the sh00ps were done by kind Anons.
@blissmo
The concept of HSM sent shivers down my spine.
I guess Hilary would be ditzy enough.
@Nagato
Yes.
@Hynavian
The ones I included were Goku and Bulma respectively
@James
Sometimes it’s so bound to fail you can spot it a mile away.
@issa-sa
Awww, I think a Hollywood remake would be okay, for Death Note.
@CZero
Oh you masochist.
@karecat
Good thing I was never a big fan of DBZ to begin, though I had fond memories of it.
@deep
Amen to that.

LOL Zac Effron. I liked him in Hairspray!

Also this is why I avoid all movies brought over to the US
They’re ALWAYS dubbed for the weeaboos.

I’m predicting that the DBZ movie will give me 2 hours of lulz, RAGE and facepalm’d. I hope ticket sales for this movie would belly-flop, forcing future sequels to be released as direct-to-video only, and also forcing the producers to hire prostitutes as extras. See Bloodrayne the Movie as a good example.
