In most other countries, it would be illegal to download anime, but being the source of it all, the reverse would also be true in Japan. Three men are now being charged of illegally uploading anime episodes and images through Winny, a popular P2P program. Sounds like a normal news item, but here’s where it gets interesting.

One of the suspects, Male C, a 24 year old graduate student from Osaka, is also charged for implementing a virus in the aforementioned images, depicting Kyou of Clannad pulling Tomoya’s tie. Now that’s one virus I don’t mind bypassing my firewalls ^^ All your systems are belong to Kyou.

    LOL, awesome :) So were they uploading anime or images?

  2. Shin Shin MALAYSIA says:

    Both actually. Among the shows uploaded were Gundam 00 and Idolm@ster Xenoglossia. They’re making a fuss over the images since there’s a virus inside it ^^;

    Somehow it makes sense.

    Actually in many countries uploading is what’s illegal, not downloading (technically). Of course that distinction is moot with BitTorrent, where one does both simultaneously.

    Cue Tatsuhiro Sato’s cries for conspiracy?

    @Mike Huang

    Shows how much I know then, thanks for the correction ^^;
