The iDOLM@STER 21: Week 54

Accurate representation of Chihaya's intense performance
Chihaya hogs the spotlight more than she should though not without good reason. According to the Blu-ray audio commentaries, Chihaya being vocally-talented wasn't initially one of her traits; It was only when Imai Asami recorded Aoi Tori that the creators realise that they could improvise and incorporate it into Chihaya's character. This is probably the only franchise in existence where the characters and seiyuus are extensions of each other
Kuroi's final tribute to the Chihaya fans in forcing her to perform a Nemuri Hime a capella is reminiscent to a certain Azusa music video that went to become one of the most viewed iDOLM@STER MADs on Nico Nico Douga. Had it not been for the fact that the old lady has been shafted in favour of the younger idols, this is how this week's episode could have played out.

I genuinely liked Jupiter as rivals and it was disappointing to see that they quit 961 before actually strutting their stuff against the girls. I admit that while I wasn't too fond of them in the beginning, but I succumbed to my inner homosexuality in the game when they gatecrashed my party with Koi wo Hajimeyou. By the end of it all, I found out that the boys themselves are actually pretty chill, and were fed different stories by Kuroi about 765:
Hakuto: Takagi NTR'ed a certain girl from Kuroi (笑)
Shouta: Kuroi lost to Takagi as producers back in the day
Touma: 765 Productions resorts to dirty schemes to gain the upper hand

Kuroi himself never actually goes into detail as to why he hates Takagi so much and even after you beat Jupiter, it is never mentioned what happens to 961 head honcho after that. I knew I could count on the anime's interpretation of in-game events and sure enough, they pulled it off better than I had expected. And since they are venturing into unknown territory, the implication that Kotori may have been the idol whom Takagi and Kuroi had both produced in the past was a nice touch; Having her sing 花 at the bar while the former partners 'reconciled' was simply icing on the Christmas cake .
Speaking of which, it does bring to question as to what Kotori's real age is - ZUN the photographer looks pretty youthful in the picture, while Kotori's mole was below her right eye before it sagged all the way to just above her chin. Hmm...

At least Kotori got her episode. And it’s a shame that Kotori X BROducer pairing is the most likely even though it’s not going to happen ever.
And I still haven’t touched the game even though it’s been sitting on my desk for over two weeks now.

I’ll believe what I want

Haha, that first graphic. She did get rather excited during that performance (not that I’m complaining). Chihaya no longer suffers for her past and family, but she’s still suffering for — as you put it — some Haruka scissoring.
I love how the characters are extensions of the seiyuu. I love how everyone’s color-coded. It just makes the experience so much more personal and worthwhile. Blurring the lines between 2D and 3D a little bit. :P Too bad there’s only one Asapon.
Aah, why aren’t more sub groups doing this series, but I’m able to pick up more context than I thought from watching the raws. Yeah, it looks like Jupiter has done well for themselves. Some people are saying they’ll be back later as allies (only to further increase the danketsu power level), so I wonder if Shinkan Shoujo will re-emerge as rivals or if the last few episodes will just take off with more boundless fun.
LOL, Kotori’s mole did travel, didn’t it. I’ll just say it’s been 10 years, between ages 15 and 25. Still feeling bad for Hibikibros.

Since we’re on the topic of Haruka, I wonder what’s in store for her now that Chihaya is able to stand on her on two feet. Will she feel neglected now that she no longer has a role to play and is being overshadowed by her best friend?
December 1st, 2011 - 12:11
@Shin – Yandere time, ofc.
Did you notice the subtle change in the OP?
December 1st, 2011 - 13:36
Oh yes
December 3rd, 2011 - 17:58
Sauce plz?
December 4th, 2011 - 06:17
@yaku – Ero-doujin titled “inferno.”
December 2nd, 2011 - 12:32
Seems like she’s being overshadowed by Miki, yet again.
>Miki hijacks
>In a Haruka episode
December 2nd, 2011 - 12:46
Called it.
November 30th, 2011 - 00:50
Kotori’s age? Forever 17.
Having Chihaya’s seiyuu-connection seems interesting. Makes you wonder what kind of chara she would have been without her singing trait. That’s like… the only good trait that she ever had.
December 1st, 2011 - 04:07
She’d be emo/sullen, and that’s it, I guess. Not exactly the best quality for an idol.
December 1st, 2011 - 10:21
Probably just a kuudere type character with less emo. Also, I don’t know how far this is true, but in the arcade version she apparently commits suicide if you get a bad end w

Dad, stop trying to make me gang bang Chihaya with all those ahegao in the first pic. …..Sauce plz?
To most people my Chihaya-hate might seem genuine (as proven by my comment and responses in dad’s previous post. trollface.jpg), but I actually do love her… in a sadistic way. Her kind of character is the one that usually gets a stronger comeback compared to other characters, and I loved to see that in the last episode. Followed eventually by her falling in the pits again when she gets gang banged for the sake of her growing fame, of course
(…wait, that only happens in doujins?)
It’s obvious Kotori either drank from the fountain of youth or it’s a vampire sucking the life force of all four guys there, so it looks like a lot of time passed but they just aged faster. In other words, vampire pimp!
When are we gonna see a homosexual orgy between broducer and Jupiter? There must be at least some doujins in Japan about it, let alone the internet! I just wish there were a couple more guys to make the thing more intense, I mean, more varied. Yes, varied.
December 1st, 2011 - 10:19
Don’t have sauce, but you can try The Animalm@ster in which Producer hypnotises Chihaya into a dog w
December 2nd, 2011 - 18:05
That sounds horribly amazing, thanks dad!
December 1st, 2011 - 14:04
Obviously that’s Kotori’s twin sister who pass away when 765 and Jupiter’s producers clashing values lead to a tragic accident causing the young idol’s death.
December 2nd, 2011 - 22:10
All my money.

Don´t have internet right now so I am borrowing my little brother´s (not so little, he is 19) laptop. I entered your site with him watching and shared some awkward moment with your top picture, not berating you or anything, just sharing my luck and some cool story bro
Don´t have internet; I just watched the raw (a week ago).
December 2nd, 2011 - 12:47
Subs are out! Also, I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe you might want to make him a reader so it never happens again ww
December 2nd, 2011 - 15:24
For some reason he hates you man (with a hat)
December 2nd, 2011 - 18:04
Otouto tsundere is very common
December 2nd, 2011 - 10:05
I think I have foreseen a spoiler after reading your post :(
December 2nd, 2011 - 12:48
Predictions and speculation are not intended as spoilers!
December 2nd, 2011 - 23:46
Did anyone notice that most of the idols are underage and they were let in a bar where people blatantly smoke and drink alcohol? Just picture this: There’s a sudden police raid in the bar where all our idols are having a good time. The police checks up everyone’s ID and discovers this blatant crime… probably some minor prostitution charges or something like that would follow up.
