The Eating Disorder Of Kisaragi Chihaya

Just the other day, kevo produced an interesting set of figures detailing the body mass index of each individual idol. A quick glance suggests that pretty much all the girls are underweight, but that should not come as much of a surprise considering their line of work. However, only one person stands out for being classified as severely underweight according to the BMI. That's right.

So how often does Chihaya eat in a day anyway? Almost every scene that involved the other idols eating had Chihaya either turning down food, skipping out entirely,  just standing around, or doing something else to avoid eating.

Cases in point:

Notice how Chihaya is standing in the background, carrying an empty plate by herself? Notice how clean the plate is despite the fact that she is using a fork? Clearly she is only pretending to eat. Why go through all that trouble, when she could have just wallowed in the corner as always, you ask? See how Chihaya is standing on the outer circle of the group but is still close enough to make it look as though she is a part of the conversation? Her directionless gaze and forced smile? She just wants to belong. Yet no one wants to speak to her other than her best friend forever :cry:

For the record, Chihaya, despite her suffering, comes from a middle class family, so she is not financially restricted in any way. In other words, she is easily able to afford food, yet she chooses meal replacements instead. It brings to question as to whether or not she has an actual fear of putting on weight, or if she has some misguided and misinformed notion that she is somehow increasing her lung capacity by shrinking the size of her stomach. This does not sound too far-fetched, as Chihaya is unable to do anything other than sing.

So is she just outright fasting or does she also have a self-induced regurgitation ritual as well? Being Chihaya is suffering, but just how much of this is self-inflicted suffering? In conclusion, there is every evidence to suggest that Chihaya is displaying symptoms of being an anorexic and bulimic, which in turn has contributed to her depression. Poor Chihaya, I feel so bad for her I wish I could stop picking on her :cry:

    Legend says that there is a place in hell for Chihaya Bullies where they are forced to play with Nene for all eternity, but who does not want to play with sweet healthy Nene!? :???:

    Anime girls (and fictional characters) status (height, weight) are just a bunch of lies, just “because you asked” you are given the “info”.

    I´ve carried girls and they are light (the ones that are small/as tall as me, damn, not Jabba the Hutt) but not THAT light!

    You posted a comparison of heights and weights between some anime girls; Mio and Mugi were short fat whales while 1.88 meter tall girls were like 40-45 Kg.

    We need to watch (rewatch) The Idolm@aster Live for You! so we can, you know… get a live. :lol:

    I’m such an asshole white knight that Chihaya is that close to being my waifu. I have a growing obsession with wanting to help her get over her issues and become a happy person. I have some kind of fetish for psychiatry, I guess.

    Maybe that’s why I ended up on Ritsu in the first place, episodes focussed on her often seemed to hint at insecurities about not being girly enough. Either that or I pick my women like a dirty hipster picks his music.

      I admit, when it comes to expressing my love to Chihaya, I don’t even come anywhere as close as to the real fans in Area 11, more so A-1 with their own hardcore fanboys helming the director’s seat every week. Imashi for the win!

    Now I know Chihaya is gonna be the top idol of the company; no way they would let the girls get away with eating so much damn food, all of them pigs! STARVE YOURSELVES FOR OUR ENTERTAINMENT!

    I approve of Chihaya now, she’s serious about becoming a singing star! Although instead of two fingers she should use laxatives to save her vocal cords; then again she’d destroy her intestines but hey, everything to become an idol! :roll:
