The iDOLM@STER 10: Good Sport

Everyone wants Makoto as their husbando, but there can only be one waifu.

Talent agency sports festivals can only really happen in Japan and Korea where girl bands are aplenty, and god bless the genius who came up with the concept. There is nothing like seeing your favourite idols all hot and sweaty, since it also gives useless ones like Chihaya a chance to shine; Not that she did anyway. And to keep it to the theme of the this week's episode, here are highlights of my favourite moments:

I'm the loneliest

It's Kotori's 40th birthday today, have you wished her yet?

A1 bounce

I heard there was a Gainax animator onboard for this episode, which probably explains this travesty. It's pretty funny considering Takane's bust size is virtually identical to Azusa's and they were kept firm and intact throughout the former's sprint. I'm guessing old people's disease got to Azusa again and she forgot to wear a sports bra. Not to be confused with Chihaya who didn't even bother putting one on.

Does Miura have to choke a bitch?

Only three things in this world is able to rile me up to no end:

1) True Tears

2) Rinko NTR

3) Making Yayoi cry

It is one thing to make fun of Yayoi, but to actually get her to weep is overtheline.jpg I was so mad I was on the brinks  of tears myself.

Girls meet boys

I'll be honest - I actually do like boy bands of the Johnny's Entertainment ilk. Jupiter is no different and they remind me of the time when Miki, Takane and Hibiki were your rivals. So it is no surprise that both Jupiter and Project Fairy are from the same agency, and personalities aside, their songs are pretty nice to listen to; that is of course, if you like boy band fluff like me :oops:

Even while Makoto and Iori has never interacted with Ms Gloomy, they are aware of their internet memes and the role she plays in the group.

I am a firm believer in heterosexual relationships, which is why I do not usually advocate behaviour like this. I'll let this one slide, since it was pretty funny, and if I were in her shoes, I would have been gay for Makoto too.

Like a Minase

To know what the rules are, I highly recommend reading this article - talent agencies are big business, and knowing someone at the top can get you things done. While she would rather not use her family's influence, the ever pragmatic Iori will play her cards when necessary. Week after week, she continues to steal the show for me. Best Kugyuu character or bestest Kuyguu character?

So this is what a show with unlimited budget looks like eh? THE iDOLM@STER keeps getting better with every episode, and remains the sole example that a game to anime adaptation can be done right.

    This episode looks the worst so far.

    Re Kugyuu bias: It’s like the Iorin is spearheading the anime instead of default-girl Haruka. Too much screentime, not that I complain about it. Iori is BOSS.

    Looks like Mikimiki is aiming for Ryuuguu Komachi with her attitude, is this a game plot or something?

      It was the best for me, with pretty much everyone in the IM@S-verse getting some screentime. The solidarity of 765 after discovering Yayoi got bullied was pleasing to watch, as it gave our favourite tomboy Makoto one of her best moments to shine.

        Ah sorry, I mean “looks” as in animation quality. Many characters look off-design and fugly, must be a rush job since the episode had so much content.

        Otherwise it was one of the best for me too.

      All the current characters don’t have serious story arcs, so Iori, Yayoi and everyone else whose episode is featured will be sidelined in the 2nd half where serious stuff happens.

    Seconded SnooSnoo’s grievances. What has poor Chihaya ever done to you, Shin?! I know she has a very flat chest and can sometimes be quite anal when it comes to her “I’m a singer” attitude, but…?

    Seeing how Iori managed to pwn that other producer, it makes me wonder whether 765 Pro President Takagi has recruited the daughter of the ridiculously rich Sanzenin Minase Group into their ranks just to deal with situations like these? (Of course, Iori actually being talented is a bonus. :roll: )

    IMO, he is the real mastermind behind it all. :wink:

    PS Makoto x Ryou? Penises are Blasphemy! I’ll stick with the usual Yuri threesome of Makoto x Miki x Yukiho, thank you very much.

      I bully Chihaya because her gloomy personality stirs up my perverse and sadistic side, so I cannot help it :oops: And the fact she comes off as a bit stuck-up just makes matters worse.

      Iori’s dad and the President are indeed friends, so I won’t be surprised if it was all just as planned.

      It’s funny I just recently read a doujin pairing those 3 together. Too bad I can’t appreciate yurishit enough to fap to it.

    Deus Tier: Makoto.
    Top Tier: Miki, Hibiki, Ami/Mami
    Normal Tier: Takane, Haruka, Iori, Yayoi (in high spirits).
    Low Tier: Yukiho, Chihaya.
    Diabolus Tier: Azusa.

      I wouldn’t be too concerned about that, as there’s still another 15 episodes to go. Chihaya will get her time.

      So far, we have Iori (ep 2), Yukiho (3), Chihaya (4), Yayoi (7), Azusa (8), Ami & Mami (9) covered. Episode 1 is of course the pilot ep, episode 5 is the obligatory Beach Episode, while episode 6 and this episode are general developments.

      This leaves Haruka, Makoto, Miki, Takane, Hibiki and Ritsuko (if A-1 still considers her an idol) to yet have their own episode for themselves. And then there’s Kotori as well if A-1 wishes to give her one episode for herself.

      Only then can we have more “weaved together” development episodes like this one, which will hopefully involve the competition with Jupiter and Ryuugu Komachi. Ideally with Chihaya as the main singer of Producer’s new unit.

        From what I gathered, people like Miki and Chihaya are going to need more than a single episode from the sheer development that takes place in the game’s campaign

        If they wanted to give Kotori her own episode they should have timed it on that it was on the 9th itself!

        I am so hoping Chihaya heading Producer’s new unit doesn’t come true :oops: Instead, I think it is Miki who should take centre stage, or better yet, she restarts Project Fairy with her comrades Takane and Hibiki to show the boys how it’s done :roll:
