Seitokai no Ichizon 01: Notto Disu Shito Agen

The lack of substance in an anime more often than not becomes its Achilles' heel, but Seitokai no Ichizon manages to turn that very shortcoming into its selling point. It even braces you for it right at the very beginning, when its characters acknowledge the fact that the show bears no real plot whatsoever and is much better off a drama CD 
No surprise of course, considering its source material centres around otaku references and parodies, and I really want to abstain comparing this to Lucky Star. So much for that.
The jokes themselves range from being obvious and overused to downright amusing and comical, though the transition from a joke to another occurs so quickly that you'd probably miss out on it if you weren't paying enough attention. This actually happened to me when I was distracted by the flicker of the newsflash that announced 2016 Olympics being awarded to Brazil, but I digress 
The best way to describe this rapid humour bombardment would be DEEN arbitrarily firing its gag cannon in hopes that something hits and being relatively easy to please, I become a casualty in no time at all
Even if Seitokai no Ichizon was to become crappy later on, I'm still very likely to stay on, due to a criteria the show already fulfilled. The cast of females are your generic textbook harem archetypes, and yes I'm all for the two little girls among them, but it is the vice president cum male protagonist that really impressed. He's a bro in every sense of the word and being aware of the fact he's surrounded by attractive girls, he earnestly tries to go down all their routes simultaneously. In other words, he's there to project the thoughts and feelings of us envious male viewers, and can be quite incessant about it at times, though he stops short at totally turning the girls off by enforcing certain obligatory male lead responsibilities. Without realizing it, he may have already succeeded in triggering a couple of flags if not all of them, and it will only be a matter of time before he obtains his True End, and by that I really mean doujins. And by doujins, I mean porn. And by porn, I mean graphic depiction of a five way orgy. Make it happen, Japan!
A rather simple fare with a couple of clever set pieces to warrant a watch for the time being, though a devoid of actual plot and the repetitive nature of how the jokes are fleshed out would probably turn people off. With that in mind, the chances of me actually covering this show are close to nil, though as always, there might be the occasional copypasta/photosh00p post lurking around the corner

I really hope this won’t be 95% parodies 0.1-5% story, while the Higurashi and K-on references were funny sometimes it looked that they are trying too hard, I like the concept that the entire series will be happening only in the Council Room I hope they don’t fuck this up.

I fully expected to hate this show – was very surprised that I enjoyed it……..can’t see myself watching it to the end though, they’re bound to run out of jokes sooner rather than later.

I haven’t seen this yet, but I get the feeling that I’ll like it. References are always hit or miss, but I think it’ll be fine as long as they’re not too obvious. The lack of plot doesn’t bother me but it could really backfire if it fails to be funny.

I watched this on my laptop in one of my lectures. I didn’t expect to laugh out loud (literally). So when I find all heads turned at me as im laughing hysterically when whats-her-face is wearing the bridal costume, and the girl behind me says im watching weird “porn japanamation” ( ? ) , I realize maybe a class full of 300 judgemental peers is not the best place to watch anime.
Now theres no way I can form my own study group harem…./sigh
