Eden of the East 02: The East Is Burning Red!

It's official, this show is a definite keeper. Although my reasons for loving Eden of the East is somewhat different from say, people like Hinano, I do appreciate the well executed character interaction set pieces. It made me go all DAAAAAAAAAAW, a reaction somewhat alien for a ℳℴℯ❤ fanboy such as myself, since most of the times I would be going all HNNNNNNNNG. But above all else, this episode seem to have delivered on what I've been hoping for the moment Akira showed up with a revolver, cellphone and the arousing lack of clothes; an intriguing espionage thriller.

But you know, I still went all HNNNNNNNNG over Saki, since she's plenty cute, with her Hagu-esque dollface expressions and peeved face when Akira seemingly dumped her. Then there was this sequence of events that was so sublime I repeatedly played it because it was just so adorable.

You just can't help but cheer for the two, seeing as how the couple are so compatible it hurts, since by the end of it, I felt incredibly ronery because I know that I will never be able to meet a girl like Saki Just look at the related posts and you'll realize the last show I blogged on containing rabu rabu elements was True Tears

Ultimately, the mystery shrouding the entire show is what's keeping me excited. Selected individuals, such as Akira have access to a network that grants them instant favors, which will be then deducted from their credit quota. Akira has over 8 billion yen worth of such favors and is bounded with the responsibility to spend it all. While our hero's been spending it on basic amenities like the occasional taxi and snacks, the full extent of the network's capacity in fulfilling requests comes into light when one of these individuals exploit it to eliminate people, and boy does he do it in style!

Wow. Dan Brown meets uh.....I can't think of any romantic novelist, but you get the idea.  I would have been more than satisfied if the show just stuck to that serious and gritty tone, but the unorthodox(to me at least) injection of romantic elements into the equation was refreshing to say the least, and has left me yearning for more. Pity that we don't get to see more of Akira's Johnny though
