Eden of the East: The Takizawa Identity

Posted by: Shin

He has the skills...

Of a dangerous man.

But he has no memory.

Now, the government's top agent....

Is about to become their number one target.

And the only way he can survive, is to find out who he is....

Before they find out....

Where he is.

Danger.

Is.

Bourne.

Yeeeeeeeeeeah. The protagonist brought the name up and I knew it had to be done. There is that resemblance, but I'm going to stop short of comparing this anime to Robert Ludlum's masterpiece as it is unfair to Eden of the East, which has proved to be quite the surprise hit for me this Spring.

The whole mysterious person with amnesia theme has been done ad nauseam, and it stays rather true here. However, Akira's a pretty happy-go-lucky dude for someone whom I assume is an agent cum test subject for a clandestine organization; Flaunting his compact, yet efficient Asian penis and all. The fact it has Honey & Clover character designs(why? щ(゚Д゚щ)) makes it somewhat harder for me to take this show seriously. But hey, Tokyo's been hit by North Korean missiles by the end of the first episode, so I expect some serious business to take place the next episode, but apparently Show ▼

Hard to tell which direction this show is going to take, but interaction between the two main characters has been rather fun to watch, with their distinct personalities complementing one another. Plot wise, the pseudo spy thriller nature of it has certainly piqued my interest, since I'm into this sort of thing. I also wish to see more of Akira's penis which been literally cockblocked by censors. I expect this to change in the DVD release, yes?

  1. The Bourne movie series was a good series, it just sets the pace running. No matter how many hi-tech tools the CIA use in their net to surround Bourne, he’s always a step ahead, and that’s the most fun bit about the series.

In fact, if it weren’t for Matt Damon’s Bourne, we wouldn’t have Daniel Craig’s Bond.

Though Akira making a mention about Bourne means that’s where the comparisons will end. Not to mention him resembling the wacky Morita in H&C means I just can’t take him seriously as an angsty amnesiac secret agent.

  2. yes, totally surprised me too. the honey & clover designs caught me off guard.
yep, not sure how the series will go, but it’s an awesome show, probably my fav this season too! ;3

  3. Oh god Bourne lol, I watched the first. Good one here.

Also lol @ the spoiler. I need to watch this one already, dammit.

  4. Potentially one of the most awesome shows this season. I wouldn’t put it behind the guy who wrote and directed every GitS:SAC to make a fun action-mystery show.

I’m loving the two main characters so far, which is great. I really do hope it’s more of a Bourne-like narrative where 90% of the show focuses on those main characters. I mean, I’d rather see all this political intrigue and whatever unfold through Akira’s and Saki’s amusing perspective than through the stock military colonel or mysterious guy-in-suit.

Also, the ED is God Tier

  6. I can’t believe he actually compared himself to Bourne.

This is one hell of a surprise package. Definitely for keeps.

    Also, religious undertones much?

  7. AKira’s attitude pretty much cancels out the whole amnesia thing. If only Saki were as good a lead…

  9. Eeeeeeexcellent. An apt comparison.

Also I’m sure that baka-raptor, lolikit, or someone will record your desire to see visuals for that male member and regurgitate it at the least opportune moment.

  10. @Kinny Riddle – Yeah, Akira’s sort of more likeable in that he’s a lot more lighthearted that Bourne can ever be yet maintain that air of mystery around him

@YuKi-To – Funny how I can like this and K-on! equally

@Panther – Stop watching crap like Saki

@Scypher – I’m counting on that plus a little romance just because there isn’t any other shows of that genre this season. I’m sort of partial to the OP though

@C.I. – Or Long if we’re to go by Desired’s subs

@Setsuna-san – I didn’t catch it the first time, but I got what you meant now. I’m just waiting for the right chance to parody Da Vinci Code

@Omisyth – She isn’t? I thought she complements Akira pretty well.

    @Hangmen – Doesn’t include K-on! does it?

    @moritheil – I bet they will :twisted:

  11. I made a Bourne Identity spoof trailer with this anime the second I finished watching the first episode! Lots of the clips you used match up with mine :P!

I’m totally loving this series. Saki and Akira are two awesome lead characters, and oh-so suited for each other.

  12. Can I see?

  13. Hm…censors huh? I thought about it, and I actually think those scribbles add to the appeal of the show. After all, it’s not really for fanservice, or is it? xD
