Be Back Later; Australia

3 years into tertiary education and it has finally boiled down to this. I will be heading down under, Sydney, to be exact to finish up my degree, as part of a 2+1 package offered, this coming Tuesday.

Spent the better part of the week looking for rooms to let and boy, has it been a headache. Why so last minute, you ask? For one, I ended up not being able to stay with someone whom was I was initially meant to move in with. Also, due to the nature of things, I'm unable to actually hold a room for too long since it's on a first come first serve basis. As of this post, I've yet to secure a place. :lol:

Regardless, I'm rather optimistic about my chances and have always somehow or another overcome obstacles at the 11th hour, so I think I'll be able to manage this time around as well. In the worse case scenario, I might pull a Tom Hanks until I actually find a place :lol:

Of course, the real issue here is whether or not I am physically and mentally prepared for the whole endeavor. No, not  the challenges that one would face staying in a foreign country alone. Rather, I'm not sure if I'm ready to part with my loli collection on a long term basis. :oops: Just thinking of a life without my little 2D girls makes me want to curl up in a fetal position and start weeping :cry: Australia haet lolicon :mad:

Either way, this is by no means a hiatus post, considering how I hardly post nowadays anyway, so I think I should still be able to put together my weekly updates, providing I have internet access, which by the way, I heard is atrocious(limited bandwidth) even in Australia :???:

Since we're on the subject, I was sort of looking forward to mixing around with otakus over there, although unfortunately it seems that while my Uni has an anime club, it does not even remotely look active, if their website is any indication. Things actually look better at a neighboring Uni, so I sure hope they accept applications from outsiders :lol:

Well, that's it from me for now, and chances are, my next post will be when I settle down in Sydney. Oh, if you're wondering why I have a green hair girl as my OP image who's not Ranka, it's because Alice is my latest waifu and an addition to my ever expanding harem(Yes, I just finished Aria) :razz: How I wish I was actually travelling to Neo Venezia with Alice welcoming me with open arms :kiss: :oops:

    The only other thing to watch out for in Australia is the summer heat wave. It can get VERY hot if you don’t have aircon. But either way welcome to Sydney, what uni will you be attending?

    Hey mate

    You should like it down under. although the weather right now is damn HOT!!!!

    The people here are generally friendly and if you do join the clubs and societies in your uni you shouldn’t have too much problems making friends and getting used to the Australian culture :)

    If i may ask which uni are you going to?

    In terms of internet..you are right in that we are limited in terms of bandwidth however there are a few ADLS plans which give you a pretty nice Quota (expect to pay $$$ for it though).

    Check out http://whirlpool.net.au/ for information about broadband in Australia. it will allow you to select the right plan as well :)

    Anyway, i have been in a smilar situation, in that i went to Costa Rica, which had NO internet, and as long as you have something to do, you will be fine…

    Welcome to Australia, yeah like eveyones says watch out for the summer heat waves. Unfortunately there aren’t many anime related places here, but there is quite a number of shops in Sydney that sells manga and anime, such as the book chain “Borders”, “Kinokuniya” at town hall. Other places like JB hi fi, Hondarake (full of books), and other shops around china town. GOOD LUCK.

    Take care, Shin. Having just come back from Sydney for my vacation, please be mindful of Australia’s bandwidth download limit, which is ridiculously low. So you’re gonna have to pick and choose what series to watch down there.

    Oh, and the sun is scorching hot, literally. Always apply sun lotion whenever necessary. Right now my skin’s still quite tanned.

    Have fun! I’m going on a school trip to Australia for a couple weeks in March, but quite apart from the heat and internet (and loli, I suppose), I’m mostly fearing the horrendously long flight. Ah well, I’m sure it’ll be worth it :P
