A Day With Alice

Otherwise known as Dennou Figure ARis, this augmented reality figure was released by Geisha Tokyo Entertainment back in October, allowing users to interact with a three dimensional figure that takes the shape of a rather adorable maid who goes by the name of Alice. Innovation or gimmick? More after the jump.

If you still have no idea what this is, you might want to consider watching the demo videos which highlights the features and functions of this rather sophisticated piece of software. As you would probably have already guessed from the OP image, you're going to need a webcam to be able to use it at all, not to mention a decent computer to run said software, as it is quite the resource hog.

Setup itself is a breeze; I got mine running in under 5 minutes, using the Microsoft Lifecam I borrowed from a friend. Having not owned one prior to this, I'm guessing it's an entry model since the resolution seems rather low, as evident from the screenshots you're about to see. A brief explanation as to how it works; the webcam picks up the patterns on the cube which you are required to assemble yourself, displaying Alice on screen in real time. As such, you're able to rotate the cube 360 degrees, with the 3D figure following suit.

Meet Alice-tan! Just so you know, she's voiced by Yukana, though to give you a clearer picture as to how awesome she sounds like, just imagine Reinforce Zwei with a slightly higher pitch. And in case you're wondering, that's my bed she's "standing" on.

Because I just had to.

By leaving her idle, Alice will start doing typical maid stuff like sweeping the floor. Every once in a while, she will also inform you of the current time and engage in pointless banter such as telling you her hobby, which by the way, is window shopping(very funny, Sets). That, or just extend her greetings to her new master.

The fun part comes in the actual interaction, where you can use one of the two 「Dennou Sticks」 which I will refer to as either the 「Poke Stick」 or 「Rape Stick」 Here I am prodding Alice with the 「Poke Stick」, though as you can see, she's awfully pissed. EEEEEEEEEEEE!

And if you're me, you'd be playing with the 「Rape Stick」 by now, and with a swift wave, Alice's clothes will magically disappear, sending her squealing in embarrassment. Kyaaaaaaaaaa~! Sorry, but your resistance (and screams) only makes my penis harder.

Know your place, woman!

Of course, she can only take so much abuse from her Goshujin-sama(she even laments at why you're being such a bully), but no matter, there's a way to remedy this!

Before I address that part, there are other means of interaction, which includes giving her access to a wardrobe. For some reason, some of the costumes featured in the demo video are absent, and I have no idea why. Either way, you have a choice between either the maid outfits with different color templates or the (school?) uniform as shown above, which also comes in a variety of colors.

Just because you've given her new clothes to wear, it does not mean she has forgotten about what you did earlier. Goshujin-sama wa BAKA!

Bribe her with gifts using the 「Gift Card」 and all is forgiven! :wink: ~~Just like real women~~. All is well and she even does a happy dance, singing your praises as a master.

As with the costumes, there are a number of other gift options as well, each with a unique outcome and animation sequences.

Express your undying love towards Alice with a love letter, and watch as she blushes in appreciation..... So ronery.

Or be a jerk and spook her with a box full of roaches when she's not looking.

Abusing Alice is fun and all, but treating her like a gentleman grants special perks, like how she's more receptive about being stripped to her underwear. Maid event flag triggered!

Unfortunately, the software is relatively worksafe, so this is as much fanservice as you're going to get.

Thoughts

And you thought your anime girl desktop sitters were cool! While the technology powering ARis isn't exactly new, it's nice to see companies releasing products that allow ~~otakus~~ users to experience Augmented Reality firsthand. To be honest, it serves as nothing more than an interesting distraction(an expensive one at that, not that it stopped ARis from being sold out in the first two days of release) for the time being, but the potential is definitely there, as mods and various other add-ons will definitely improve its longevity, and fappability factor, if you know what I mean. Please don't ask where I got mine from. Available at J-List and Play-Asia.

I´ve already said that I wanted one in my post about them.

And I sure as hell want one. But since I don´t have a webcam it´s nothing I can get :(

I´m not so sure what my parents would think either if they hear that scream coming from my room in the middle of the night. But I do know that it wouldn´t be any good thoughts.

If it can be made in some other way and it won´t cost a fortune then it might be something that I can acquire. For now it´s a cool thing that I want to get my hands on, but can´t really get.
