I would have forgotten all about this had a friend not reminded me. The mostly forgettable Summer, save for a few gems, is behind us. Unlike the previous season where I slacked off to solely concentrate on Code Geass, I'm going to at least try watching a couple more and who knows, pick up at least two shows to cover. Here's a brief look at my Autumn selections, referenced from various sources.
While it's pretty obvious that I would be all over this, I'm still scratching my head trying to fully fathom my love towards the series. Considering the fact there are no lolis, traps and/or bishies(okay, so Chiaki-sama is one heck of a stud), my attachment to Nodame Cantabile comes off as a real shocker. Maybe it's the music, the story or perhaps the memorable cast that drew me in. It also may well be due to how the series is able to portray domestic violence in a humorous light, which probably appealed to the sadist in me. I hope the latter is untrue.
Shin Says: Wife beating musical.
Anime and Manga fanatic Sakura Nankyoku is the star of this Nico Nico Douga only animation series which will be continuing its run with a sequel. This show addresses what was sorely lacking in Lucky Star; boobs. Well, not really. Sakura is however, more fun to watch than Konata or that introverted otaku girl from some other anime.
Shin Says: ktkr**, wktk**. wwwwwwww***
** I'm so looking forward to this
With no readily available information other than this being based on a series of trading figurines, I personally would like to see how the lives of girls working in train companies would translate on screen. Well, if something like Strike Witches could be done, I don't see why mixing girls with rail transport wouldn't work.
Shin Says: All aboard the ho train?
I need to emphasis that the plot, while hardly the most original, is fleshed out pretty nicely in game. This is because the main character Luke, is a whiny asshat for about two thirds of the game, which might put most people off. Thankfully, the rest of the party are a likeable bunch, be it Tear, who is your typical healer character, is not your everyday damsel in distress, to the trapilicious Fon Master Ion and the ever so fabulous and snarky Jade.
Shin Says: I love video games, even more so when it comes to RPGs. While I've not played every title in the "Tales Of" series, I enjoyed the ones that I did, and this includes Tales of the Abyss, which is why I'm praying for Sunrise to not screw this up.Â
Robots are nice when they are big and gay. And by gay I mean overpowered. The first season was very watchable, especially how the producers tried to tie the series with real world politics and events, making it somewhat enjoyable if somewhat distorted experience. While I'm partial towards the pretty boys of the Celestial Being and Ribbon's own pilot cum boy band members, it is the return of Prince Ali and Doctor Graham which I'm really looking forward. Of course there's also the adorable Feldt and Souma, both whom are legal now, not that it mattered to me before.
Shin Says: Sexy men in sexy mecha.
As a precursor to Minami-ke, Kyo no Go no Ni centres around the seemingly ordinary lives of a bunch of 5th graders. It actually is very ordinary, save for the sexually precarious situtions these kids tend to get into.
Shin Says: Worked as an OVA, but a full fledged television series? By a different studio? With a different cast? I'm rolling on the floor throwing tantrums right now.
From highly acclaimed Katsuyoshi Yatabe of Armored Trooper Votoms: The Last Red Shoulder and Gundam SEED and sequel fame, comes a heart warming tale of friendship and self discovery between three prepubescent boys. The third series in a trilogy of OVAs, Pico x CoCo x Chico is slated for release on the 9th of October.
Shin Says: Marbles.
Because I can't get enough of little boys, here's an anime about a butler and His Young Noble Master.
Shin Says: This is surprisingly shounen, minus the ai. Then again, the latter carries so much yaoi undertones these days that it's hard to discern one from the other. Also, the kid reminds me of a younger version of Rental Magica's Iba Itsuki. He is however voiced by Maaya Sakamoto(?!!!) and not Jun Fukuyama as I have assumed.
Toei almost made me shed girly tears with their movie, so I'm banking on Kyoto Animation to really bring about the waterworks, with hopefully, a lot less Fuko or none at all.
For me to have enjoyed the first season should come as no surprise, since I can tolerate any amount of fanservice, regardless of how gratuitous. I also involuntarily secrete semen when I hear Nana Mizuki talk.
Shin Says: So I enjoy this tripe. Bite me.
It would hypocritical of me if I watched the sequel to Rosario and not give this a shot since it also has Nana Mizuki in it. I'm so slow with this write up that the season began without me, with this anime on some doctor lady who bumps into some hot dude being the first to air as of this post. So far so shoujo.
Shin Says: I doubt I'd last past the first three episodes. Go bug Hinano instead.
Reading the synopsis made me go "Oh no, El Cazador?" but after finding out who the people behind it were, I went "Oh wait, Samurai Champloo?" Despite its resemblance in terms of setting to the former, I want to believe that Manglobe will inject something fresh and unique into this genre. May well be the sleeper hit of Autumn.
Shin Says: Bonnie and
The premise while interesting, is nothing to shout about. Still, I trust Gainax, and we can never have enough zombie slaying schoolgirls.
Shin Says: Resident Highschool of The Evil Dead.
J.C Staff rom-com hate sex anime.
Shin Says: Rawr.
Other shows of interest
Kannagi - Carve tree receive girl.
Yozakura Quartert - Has nothing to do with music.
Kurogane no Linebarrel - I've my mecha fix with Gundam 00; but I like Hisashi Hirai(not trolling)
Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae - I'll watch a couple of episodes and then drop it, like I did with season two.
Junjou Romantica 2 - I blogged the first episode from the first season just for laughs.
Chaos; Head - More undead stuff with highschool girls, I might like this.
I don't know, after spending an entire season of not really blogging, I do wonder if I can ever go back to writing summaries, since I've forgotten how to actually do so. This tentative list is something I strung up together in the afternoon and as always, I'll be checking out everything that has been released(some of which airs later tonight). I somehow feel I have a mundane lineup though, any recommendations?
