New Full Metal Alchemist Series Confirmed!
An accurate depiction of Edward Elric after the announcement.
After much speculation from the leaked documents containing the list of staff members for a possible sequel to Full Metal Alchemist, BONES have finally confirmed a brand new series which will be out sometime next April and will run for about a year.
Just wow. They might not have been able to bring Ed's mom from the dead, but I'm sure glad they did with the series. Since the anime came to a closure with the movie, this looks like it will be a remake of sorts, which is great for non manga readers like myself. All I can say is that I'm really looking forward to it, which couldn't have come at a better time, since our favorite alchemist has been jobless for quite a while now. Having nothing else better to do, Ed has been goofing off in general and making ends meet with cameo appearances.
Yes, this was really just an excuse to post Pimp Ed. So goes the old adage; What Can't Ed Do? Don't answer that.

I’m currently reading the manga of FMA, so news of another anime just made me more interested in FMA! Though I wonder if it will be closer to the manga or take another route…

FMA was always so popular (as evidenced by Ed kicking it with both Hiiragi twins), but I never thought it was any better than most other Bones series. I suppose it’ll be a good watch, but hopefully every blog isn’t covering it.

XDDDDDDD OMG I am so fucking excited!!!! FMA is one of my most treasured anime of all time. Best ending I have ever seen, for anything. Actually, FMA is the anime that broke me out of my two year hiatus and hurled me back into otakudom full force. So it holds a special place…. Honestly though, I’m kind of nervous now – I mean, how will the sequel measure up to the first season!! REMAKE???? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..

Dohoho, there’s so much to learn about PS that I can’t possibly teach you. You can at least try and play around with the pen tool + eraser to extract images out of their original backgrounds. You can pretty much go wild after that.

PLEASE don’t kill me but the movie sucked. FMA was an awesome series and i’m sadly COMPLETELY obsessed with it. I know cause:
1) Nothing comes out of my mouth that isn’t FMA-related
2) I kicked somone’s ass for hitting my Edward-plusie and got suspended for 2 days
3) My friends have suggested me seeing a psycologist
But anyway, the movie was ok. But it left a big gaping hole in my heart about how it ended and the way it ended up. I was like, “Really? That’s it?” Was especailly angry at how it ended.
Al: What are we gonna do now, brother?
Ed: We have to go look for those bombs.

And also how Ed and AL ended up staying over the other side with no alchemy. And without Roy, or Izumi, or Winrey, (wait, never mind. I hate Winrey) And Hohenhiem DIED! (sob) I was intrested in seeing the father-son relation between them. Anyway, to sum it up.
I hope that when they make the new series, they somehow IGNORE the movie and take off from the end of the original series. In my opinion, I think that would work better. Any agreements? (be nice about flames)

@ Kathy lee Skyler: My guess is it will be a complete reboot of the story or, failing that, start from the military attack on Greed, since that’s where the previous anime and the manga diverged, then cover everything that the manga has so far.

Well, it is really a matter of opinion anyway, so I’m cool. I’m not even close a fan as you are.
Personally, I think they left it like that to pave for a sequel, but as westrim mentioned, it’s most likely a remake of sorts with inclusion of the stories they omitted from the manga.

i really loved this anime and everything
…but HOW THE HELL ARE THEY GOING TO PICK UP? The thing is, the anime left off nicely, the movie just completely ruined any chance of ed coming back to his alchemic powers… BEING SEALED AWAY FROM AMESTRIS! HELLO!!!!

@ Kathy lee Skyler: yes, i completley agree with you on that particular topic. There was no resolution (Not really anyway), and the only good thing that happened was that A)they stopped a maniac woman from trying to wage war agianst amestris, and B) the Elric brothers were reunited. About the only things. where are they supposed to pick up with that at? start at the end of previous season. they should, at least.

damn… why am I only learning about this now? I don’t think i’ll be watching the remake (or whatever it’ll be) though… I enjoyed the english version of it, and though i would have preferred a more happy ending, i think that it ended well enough. In the end, the elrich bros fulfilled their goals. they were put back to normal. they were reunited. and they stopped… some… random nazi invasion. and with this ending in my head, i just won’t feel right watching any more.

I heard from Vic that there is going to be quite a bit of ‘fanservice’ if you know what i mean. Especially pointless shower scenes, because if you remember there were about 7 of those scenes. Hmmm… Vic even thought about joking and messing around with Travis EdxRoy wise for a gag-reel. LOL! That’d be hilarious!!
