Macross Frontier 08: Highschool Hijinks

Like the amateur that she is, Ranka accepts just about any gigs thrown at her, and this includes being a singing mascot for a produce shop dressed in a carrot suit.

She should have just imitated Mikuru and dress as a bunny girl wielding a machine gun instead. Even the Giant Lolis were not amused.

Oh god, Giant Lolis. Fortunately for the lovable greenhead, good news comes in the form of her acceptance into Mihoshi, though Alto was not too pleased about it.

Of course, the only one really pleased about this is Nanase, who clearly has the hots for Ranka.

And then there's Luca who approves of this awesome pairing.

Not one to waste time, Mikhail moves in for the kill, and Ranka imagines the possibility of life basked in attention.

Unfortunately, that fleeting moment of joy is interrupted by the appearance of Sheryl, whose intentions were made quite clear through her devious expression.

Greeted with the kind of reception befitting that of a Queen, Sheryl looks set to rule Mihoshi, threatening the reign of that other member of royalty.

Who?

Oh.

Then again, to the Queen, Princess Alto is nothing more than just a slave, as she commands him to show her and Ranka around the academy.

Oh Luca, projecting the sentiments of the audience through his thoughts and actions yet again.

Perturbed by the fact a mecha series is suddenly mutating into a cheesy harem comedy, Alto drags Sheryl to a secluded spot and gives a piece of his mind, only to be one upped by the Queen.

Of course, by secluded I mean just around the corner, as Nanase attempts to eavesdrop on the couple.

You know you're not cut out for espionage when you have enormous boobies that stick out like a sore thumb.

By her majesty's royal decree, Sheryl's tour around the school included testing out the exo-skeletal flying suits, though Mikhail agrees only to let her fly one if she passes a test.

Why pick eggs up when you can just destroy them.

YOU ARE ALREADY CRACKED.

Her attempts ended up in a bukkake of egg white and yolk, which could only lead to one thing.

A shower scene!

Out of nowhere, an alien critter invades the girl's shower room and makes off with Sheryl's panties, causing widespread chaos as every single straight male in the academy are out on the hunt for that prized artifact.

Putting on a dress sans underwear, Commando Sheryl decides to go after her own undergarment as well, while Ranka heads off to her show.

Sadly, making way for Sheryl's performance, Ranka's TV stint gets knocked off the slots.

Meanwhile back to Sheryl, the Queen finally catches up to the alien thing but falls off the roof reaching out for that expensive pair of panties.

Anticipating that it would end up disastrous, Alto swoops in and saves Sheryl from her untimely demise. Shoot.

Moping over the cancellation, Ranka breaks into song at the park, while her love interest makes out with another woman. Ranka is then approached by a mysterious harmonica playing guy. Or at least that's what I think he is.

Everyone's suspicions about Sheryl's purpose were confirmed, as she transfers herself to become a student at Mihoshi, signing up for all things, the pilot course.

After the intense, action packed space combat episode from the previous week, it comes as no surprise that is episode was meant to slow things down, which is fine by me. Still, the QUALITY of this series is slowly getting to me, as I'm unsure as to whether to rage or just laugh it off. The only thing worth noting would probably be that pretty boy, whom I assume is that pilot from the previous episode, having particular interest in my green hair goddess, since main trap himself isn't at all bothered. :cry:

Also, the Bye Bye Sheryl episode was a lie! What is she still doing here? Then again, that would make things far less interesting, with everyone now under the same establishment, though I can't actually imagine Sheryl piloting a VF. Either way, more emphasis seems to be placed on the other characters, notably Mikhail who seems to have a skeleton in his closet, and Loli Klein's much needed presence to make the next episode worth looking forward to.
