Sayonara XP-tan

Busy evening backing up data and all that. I never thought that this day would come, but soon, I'll be making the switch from Windows XP to Windows Vista for my main rig, for various reasons. That said, I doubt I'll completely abandon her, so who knows, she could end up being on a separate partition. In the mean time let us all welcome our overlord.

Vista-tan Ultimate
Now that's what I call ultimate. And you thought XP-tan consumed a lot of RAM.

Vista-tan Basic
Despite being a watered-down version of Ultimate, Basic's still superior if you know what I mean.

Oh ho, why not have two partitions?
However, not everyone shares the same sentiment as I regarding switching OSes and as shown in this analysis from the past 5 days, most of you guys are still loyal to good old XP-tan, making me feel like an ungrateful chump all of a sudden.

Also worth nothing is the fact the users that visit this place are still on the fence when it comes to Browser preference, with a quite a few opting for Opera/Safari.

Firefox is awesome simply because it has a kitsune as a mascot. I've yet to see IE-tan so I can't make any comparisons.
Scheduled BS resumes tomorrow.

powerd by lolifox…..i wish an update would come soon but i dont mind waiting tho
i myself recently added vista ultimate as a dual boot since i bought an Asus EN9600GT
during the last PCfair and i wanted to take full advantage of dx10 graphics.
for the time being vista is purely for gaming purposes, im still using XP for everything else though

Vista-tan is quite hot. That’s probably the only good thing that I’ll ever say concerning Vista.

Meh @ Vista…but I’d take it ’cause I’m running 64-bit XP Shit.
I think I’d take 32-Bit XP over both of them in the long run though. I’ll grab Vista once it gets a few more things right.

XP is comparable, if not better than vista if you’re a programmer and know how to add your own add-ons. kinda like buying new undies for her to keep up with vista. IMHO, xp is more versatile and is currently to date the best OS there is. too bad too many programs want to promote vista, making her the queen bitch of all OSes. DX10 seriously show little difference with DX9.
Most of vista’s shitty bugs are cleared however with the latest updates. Also, you should try getting vista home media edition as the minimum. Vista home premium should also be the minimal reqs i feel if you’re going to make an ‘upgrade’ If you’re going to move from windows xp media edition, vista basic is actually poorer.
In case you heed my advice, there’s the upgrade anytime option that allows u to upgrade to any version of vista from your current one with just the use of the internet. =) I’m not trying to promote windows or anything. Good luck with your vista. Hope its bug free.
Alas, one last thing… =P there’s one last thing, IE8 beta is out, its stable and has all of mozilla’s function and more. IE8 itself will come out almost anytime. I’ve tried IE8 Beta1, its brilliant i think.

You might regret the switch to Vista. It’s pretty bloated. XP, in my opinion, is a lot more stable, but lacks the built in eye-candy. Anyway, good luck with your switch. Let’s hope it won’t bring you much trouble.

I’ve been using vista for a pretty long time now… and i find it really decent.. i like how the display/outlooks of vista compared to xp… besides that it also makes a couple of games i play load faster etc.. have not missed xp since i switched to vista!

I will never abandon XP-tan…
…though i am having a secret affair with Vista in my other computer…
May 23rd, 2008 - 15:31
^LOL Now that’s the way to go. You get the best of both worlds.

JOIN USSSSS… JOIN THE VISTA SIDE OF THE FORCEEEEEEEE!!!
Vista is actually good, contrary to what people say. And these “people” are the ones who’ve never tried it in the first place.
Though i’m wondering which Vista you’re using

Maxthon > Firefucks.
XP ftw. ;)
Hell….ME winner for MOE-factor.

YES! ANOTHER ONE JOIN THE DARK SIDE!! JOIN THE VISTA USERS AND LEARN WHY WE NEVER WANT TO REVERT TO THE OLD PIECE OF CRAP OS CALLED XP AGAIN!
And Opera/IE is better than the resource hogging, stupid coded, security leaking Firefox

I would only use Vista when I get something new. Other than that, I’m sticking to XP. And oh my, I never know there’s Vista Ultimate (yes very out-dated I am, haha).
May 24th, 2008 - 15:25
I guess this is an outcome when you make a post like this; with the XP camp duking it out with the Vista camp.
@Aoshi
Most likely going for Home Premium.
OS-tans wise, I still prefer XP-tan for the time being.
May 25th, 2008 - 20:33
BEHOLD THE POWER OF VISTA ULTIMATE!!!!!1111
And yeah, I like ME-tan more. Srsly.
May 26th, 2008 - 01:25
You guys are lucky..
Mine is still Windows Server 2003.
Stable but… several software hates it
May 29th, 2008 - 14:18
hahaha XP are more lovely and stable, my guess~ wait! why vista-tan so daring
June 6th, 2008 - 08:30
I guess you can say my XP-tan died along with my old comp, so I have no choice but to use vista-tan now.
September 24th, 2008 - 19:32
Oh no XP-tan, I’m not getting rid of you. Vista-tan is alright on my Toshiba Laptop, but you remind me of my old love for Windows 98. In fact, with a few adjustments, you kind of have the resemblance. Right now, Vista-tan is too young and not ready to take over. She’s trying too hard to be Mac-OS, and she clearly isn’t. Maybe one day she’ll understand, but in the meantime, you’re not going anywhere XP-tan.
February 24th, 2009 - 04:09
OMG do u even listen what u say? even Bill Gates said that vista is a crap and better run on XP till Windows 7 will appear…i wanna see what’s will be so special at it….i saw at vista what got “so special”..a few cool effects and lots of errors
February 24th, 2009 - 04:12
XP is the most stable OS that exists….maybe if they’ll update it as a new OS…with new looks, effects and all those would be mother of all OSs
October 23rd, 2009 - 17:33
Windows 7 now on the market.
Better then vista an XP.
I want to see W7-tan!
Please :D
November 10th, 2009 - 00:57
@Ionut –
Guess you never heard of Windows NT 4.0? XP the most stable OS that exists? Not even close if you look outside of MS coughUnixcough, and it’s never come anywhere near as close to Windows NT 4.0 in terms of stability inside of MS OS’s.
Alderian – do a google search for Madobe Nanami and you’ll find W7-tan. There were actually 3 wallpapers of her and a Windows Sounds pack (voiced by Mizuki Nana) released with the first 7777 pre-order versions of W7 in Japan.

I just couldn’t help myself. I need Windows XP and I could never abandon her. I bought Windows XP 64-bit just because I wanted her back… I was with Windows Vista and Windows 7 for a while and to be honest… I have never been happier after switching back to XP. I missed her so much
February 22nd, 2011 - 23:45
Basically, in my life, I would never abandon XP. Never. Just as what I did my best to preserve my Windows 98. When I switched to XP by then, all I did was add an extra partition and make it a dual boot computer. What I have done now had been burning Windows Vista and 7 into their PE versions and boot with the CDs I burned.
XP, no worries, you will never vanish from my computer.
