Real Drive 01: GORGEOUS DELICIOUS JELLY ROLLS

ANN describes this show as a neo-futuristic science-fiction suspense" story is set in A.D. 2061, when a new, more secure information network called the Material Network (or "Metal") has taken over human society. Fair enough, sounds like your typical sci-fi genre anime, where the story goes a little something like this:
A professional deep sea diver by the name of Haru Masamichi is enlisted by his best friend Kushima to test out the aforementioned revolutionary network system that aims to bring together man and science. In other words, like virtual reality internet(?)

The routine task takes a turn for the worse when Haru dives much deeper than he should, to the point the observation probe that was sent along with him broke, severing all communication links between him and the science vessel. As Haru delved further into the dark depths of the ocean, he begins developing strange visions and at one point notices the sea beginning to flare up.

As the crew struggle to rescue Haru, the condition beneath the ocean reaches a critical state, triggering a deadly chain reaction. The impending explosion sets off a massive shockwave that destroys everything within the vicinity. Haru survives, but is left in a comatose state.

50 years later, Haru is nothing but a disillusioned and frail shell of his former self. To make things worse for the feeble old prune, a green upstart by the name of Aoi Souta tries to take the elderly person in for questioning. Then out of nowhere, a slightly large female in a diving suit pops out of the water and engages into combat with the rookie. While he manages to fend himself temporarily, he is no match for the latest in cybernetically enhanced humanoids.

You just answered your own question.
As Aoi leaves, old man Haru is approached by yet another person, who turns out to be 15 year old schoolgirl Aoi Minamo(are they related?). Jeebus! I thought it was just a coincidence that Holon the robot chick was plump, but damn, Aoi is the very epitome of a moeblob, with heavy emphasis on the blob. I want to pinch her chubby cheeks so badly now. To prove that all females in the show are drawn in the same fashion that takes well endowed to a whole new level, Minamo's friends, much like herself are also a little on the bulky side, them being volunteers at the local hospital for the elderly.

(*´Д`)ハァハァ
With Minamo as his caretaker, Haru reveals a little more of his past. Despite having survived the disaster age ago, he is left paralyzed from the waist below with his brain swapped for a cybernetic one. Just as they were talking, Minamo notices the sea flaring up.....

At the research institute where Aoi Souta works, the chief, Kuwashima(lawlwut, he looks the same as he was 50 years ago!) receives a message from the Secretary General. Never have plus sized females looked so good!

Meanwhile back at the old folk's clinic, there is a power outage which sends the entire place into disarray, prompting Minamo leaving Haru to find a way to restore electricity. All alone and cringing in pain, Haru suddenly finds himself manifesting into his younger self and is immersed in the Meta-Real which is a virtual network represented by the sea, as he dives in to find the cause of the chaos.

Nothing suggestive here!

Or here.
FUCK. YOU. JAPAN. With the sudden urge of indulging in pudding while pleasuring myself, watching Real Drive just gave me another entry to my long list of newfound fetishes. To call these women fat is just plain rude and unfair. Sure, they're slighly rounder and curvier than most anime female characters, but it's a far departure from their anorexic counterparts in Code Geass or Kanokon, where Chizuru's body mass seem to be concentrated only at the chests. Seriously. Kudos to Production I.G to steering clear from the mainstream by catering to audience with slightly unusual preferences towards females, never mind the fact the overall animation quality is great as always. Also, if you found the story to be equally as weird, that's because it's by Masumune Shiro, who also gave us Ghost Hound, a show I ceased tuning in because it got too complex for me. R. D might just as well head down the very same path, though for the time being, plot is certainly interesting enough for me to continue, not to mention the oh-so-healthy female characters that are no doubt one of the show's highlights. DFC now stands for Delicious Fat Calves.
ps GIMP sucks.

Where are the snapshots of all the blood and gory?! LOL
I agree, Ghost Hound got too complicated and confusing for me that I just gave up watching it. Poor you, now you have another load of work!

Got too distracted by jelly rolls to include them. Ditto on GH, even though it has one hot loli in it www
@Setsuna
It’s like Matrix. You have to see it for yourself. Literally. Also, fat girls (:

@shin: after your suggestion for junjou romantica im afraid to take your word for it. and you say The Matrix but i see no epic gravity defying fight scenes. guess ill wait and see then.
Also, i like my girls DFC as in Deliciously Flat Chest not Dangerously Flabby Cows. (no offense intended)

@Setsuna
LAWL! To my defense, I’m pretty sure I told you Junjou was t3h ghey beforehand.
Also, minus the chubbies, the plot seems to deal heavily around virtual reality and the like, though it’s hard to say from the episode. I’ll post here if it gets better (:
I now like both types P:

Interesting…I never really got into the Matrix *ducks bricks* but I might watch and episode or 2 of this. I’d be more interested in the art style because chubby-ish anime characters are rare.

And why have on the GIMP? :3
The first episode was interesting, but I couldn’t understand a lot of what was going on. Hopefully they rectify that. :3

That’s what I’ve been trying to get at.
Oh about GIMP, I tried using it on my laptop since there’s no Photoshop on it, and well, that’s what I used to make the OP image, which turned out pretty crap(pier)
@waku
It’s like Manabi Straight all over again.

Man I love this girl, if they were real I would marry her. They are GOOD stuff, not only bones and boobs.

Just passing through (I found this while searching for pictures of delicious Horon), but I felt like saying that this anime season is almost like somebody over in Japan is reading my mind and putting said thoughts in anime form. First we got Gurren Lagann, which is what I always wanted in a robot show…. and now we have a show filled with curvy non-stick girls and computers, both of which I love.
I also find it funny that people are throwing such a fit over the character designs. God forbid we have anime girls who won’t blow away in a slight breeze… it’s really nice to see a blog entry from someone that wasn’t bashing it.
July 8th, 2008 - 17:35
Yeah well, if you were around longer, you’d know I don’t particularly despise any type of anime females.

I started watching this because of the whole Production IG+Masamune Shirow=GITS SAC. As a fan of IMO the best animation house in Japan (Sharing the #1 position with studio Gihbli) , Shirow and Ghost in the Shell SAC, i was expecting more of the same quality stories and animation from GITS SAC. And quality i got. For those expecting an action packed show however this will disapoint you. Don’t get me wrong, i loved the pace of the series, it was a welcome change. Animation is solid throughout, character design is awesome with a very realistic feel, and the stories, although slow paced with a few very well made action pieces are top notch. One of the best series of the year along Macross Frontier and Gundam 00 but for very different reasons.
