Tits? In my Nodame Cantabile?
Lawl wut, how did I miss this? At first I thought this was the live action version but it turned out to be a DVD only special episode. Not sure when it actually came out, but since I've not watched it yet, I decided to give it a go. This short episode, and by short I mean about 14 minutes including both OP and ED, showcases what was sorely missing in the first season in the first place, and it's none other than the obligatory beach episode. Then again, Nodame Cantabile was never about fanservice to begin with, so there's nothing fapworthy here, unless you're into Mine's pink nipples lawl. My memory's a little hazy, but this seem to take place between episode 9 when Stresemann has asked Chiaki to go to Nagano for the summer music festival there. Somehow, Mine managed to find out, and together with Nodame and Masumi they all head there.
What we didn't know however, is that Mine took a detour and stopped by at Niigata to frolick by the seaside. Just as planned. Of course, Chiaki besides being afraid of planes, also suffers from aquaphobia. He turns down the gang's offers to swim and decide to spend his time at the beach hut. Mine himself didn't come to take a dip, but to instead work on his tan, to which Nodame and Masumi cheekily messed with.
All was well until the two nuisance approached Chiaki, who was still trying to calm himself down by meditating, to join them on a boat trip to a deserted island. He still attempts to talk his way out of it, but accidentally lets slip of his weakness to the pair. Seeing as how he has no choice but to comply, Chiaki reluctantly tags along. Things go awry as Masumi abandon Nodame to spend some alone time with Chiaki at the island, as the two duke it out, causing the little raft they were on to overturn. It becomes apparent here that Chiaki is unable to swim, and instead of rescuing the drowning person, Nodame and Masumi argue to see who gets to save him.
Fortunately, Chiaki manages to get a hold of himself and is saved by a ganguro girl lawl. No longer able to bear the torment, Chiaki runs towards the van he came in, only to realize the keys are with Mine. Once again, Chiaki finds himself at the mercy of another bunch of ganguros, whom he mistakes as the same people who saved him earlier, although they agreed to take him to his destination. Speaking of Mine, he wakes up and finds out that he had been had, and decides to head off to Nagano all by himself, leaving Nodame and Masumi behind.
Although it wasn't much, it's great to hear Kawasumi Ayako and Seki Tomokazu reprise their roles as the eccentric piano student(trademark Gyabo and Mukya still intact)and aspiring Tsundere of a conductor respectively. It's been a long time, but watching this special reminds me of why I loved this show in the first place, so as a fan I was very pleased with it. Hopefully, we'll get to see more animated specials, and perhaps, this will serve as a prelude to a second season, which I'm oh so praying for.
